Safety
Last updated: August 24, 2026
A safe home for interactive storytelling. Here's what we actually do to keep ShikuAI safe — not just what we promise, but the systems and people behind it.
1. Our Commitments
Privacy. The conversations you have on ShikuAI are yours. We collect only what's needed to run the Platform — your account details, the credits and transactions tied to it, and the messages in your chats — and we don't sell your personal data or hand your private conversations to third parties for advertising.
Creative freedom, with a duty of care. ShikuAI is a platform for adults, and we respect their autonomy to tell the stories they want to tell. We balance that with zero tolerance for anything in our Content Guidelines — especially anything touching minors — and a firm line at 18+ for who can use the Platform at all.
Moderation that actually runs. Every image uploaded to ShikuAI is screened before it's ever stored, and every report is reviewed by a person — not just logged. The next section explains exactly how.
2. How We Moderate
ShikuAI's moderation has two real, working layers:
01 — Automated image screening, on every upload. Every avatar, banner, and character image is run through a local image-classification model before it is saved — not after the fact. Images identified as explicit content are rejected immediately with no manual step in between; nothing gets a chance to go live first. This runs on every single upload, with no exceptions and no opt-out.
02 — Human review of reports. Text — character personalities, scenarios, bios, comments, guestbook entries — is reviewed when it's reported, not pre-screened the way images are. Every character page has a Report action; reports go to our team, and we act on anything that breaks our Content Guidelines.
We'd rather be precise about what we actually do than promise more than we can back up — automated screening currently covers images, and text relies on reports plus the platform rules baked into every character's own instructions (see Section 2 of our Content Guidelines for how Limited and Limitless characters are each instructed to behave).
3. Reporting Something
See something that breaks our rules? Here's how to flag it:
- Use the Report action on the character's page.
- Email our team directly at [email protected] for anything that needs more context, or that isn't covered by an in-app report button yet.
For anything involving a real child in danger, contact local law enforcement or, in the United States, the NCMEC CyberTipline directly, in addition to reporting it to us.
4. Intellectual Property
If your work — writing, art, or a character concept — has been used on ShikuAI without your permission, email [email protected] with a description of the work and where you found it being used. We take this seriously and will remove infringing content once a claim is verified.
5. Mental Health Resources
If you or someone you know is struggling, free and confidential support is available 24/7:
- United States — call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline)
- United Kingdom — call Samaritans on 116 123
- Australia — call Lifeline on 13 11 14
- Elsewhere — findahelpline.com lists a helpline near you.
6. Frequently Asked Questions
Do you sell my data or share my conversations? No. Your conversations are yours; we don't sell personal data or share private chats with third parties for advertising.
Is ShikuAI only for adults? Yes. Any account we reasonably suspect belongs to someone under 18 is banned.
What's the difference between Limited and Limitless? It's the content mode a character's creator chooses — see Section 2 of our Content Guidelines for exactly what each allows.
How do I report harmful content? Use the Report action on the character's page, or email [email protected].
What if my work was used without permission? See Section 4 above.
7. Questions or Feedback
The safety and privacy of our users are central to how we build ShikuAI. If you have questions, feedback, or you're a regulator or partner who needs to reach us, email [email protected].
